three sisters

by Katrina Guarascio

three little girls,
kittens playing with string.
Clotty,
blonde
blue eyes
splatter of freckles against
high cheek bones,
laughs as she
pulls yarn from the ball.
her sister,
Lacy,
brown curls,
catches a piece
ties it off
never lets it
get too long.
they call the little one
Atty,
black hair
covering
black eyes.
she doesn’t say much,
just sits in the corner
holding
her mother’s
brass shears.
