[what blooms inside]

by Kendra Tanacea

somewhere between Kona & Hilo near

a curtain of rain & its spontaneous springs

it was keeping still and holding in

that became a brilliant growth so

green & peppered red tropical orange

silent as solo walks to the ocean in a slicker

a warm mist inside where wild

plants grow & seabirds dive for fish

it was a shy opening that I mattered

my soles on volcanoes
